Why wax do you use in your candles?
We use coconut-apricot crème wax in all of our candles. It’s a premium, natural wax blend that delivers a clean burn, excellent scent throw, and a beautifully creamy finish.
Why don’t you use soy wax?
While soy wax has become popular in the candle industry, most commercial soy wax is derived from GMO soybeans — a crop that requires significant water, fertilizer, and pesticides to produce at scale. We didn’t feel good about that tradeoff. Coconut-apricot crème wax gives us a cleaner, better-performing base that we’re proud to use in every candle.
Are your candles hand-poured?
Yes. Every Mill City Mercantile candle is hand-poured with care.
How do I care for my candle?
To get the best performance from your candle, trim the wick to ¼ inch before each burn. On the first burn, allow the wax to melt all the way to the edges of the jar — this prevents tunneling and ensures an even burn throughout the life of the candle. We recommend burning in 2–4 hour intervals and discontinuing use when ¼ inch of wax remains.
Why does my candle look different from the photo?
Because our candles are handcrafted using natural wax, slight variations in color, texture, and appearance are completely normal. These are not defects — they’re part of what makes each candle unique.
Do you offer gift wrapping or gift notes?
Yes! We offer gift wrapping and the option to include a personalized note with your order. Please include your message at checkout.
Do you offer gift cards?
Yes, we offer digital gift cards available for purchase on our website. They’re delivered by email and can be used toward any order.
How long does shipping take?
All orders ship within 2–3 business days of being placed. Orders received after 3:00 PM EST will be processed the following business day. Once shipped, delivery times vary by location and carrier.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes, we ship internationally. Shipping rates are calculated at checkout. Please note that customers are responsible for any customs duties or fees that may apply.
What is your return policy?

My order arrived damaged. What do I do?
We’re sorry to hear that! Please email us at cs@millcitymercantile.com with photos of the damaged item and your proof of purchase, and we’ll make it right.
